This course will help you to plan for and deliver successful place-based projects. It will:
- Explain how the 'placemaking mindset' can help you to plan for and manage your project
- Provide ideas on how to better diagnose the real problems or opportunities you are working on
- Outline simple, complicated and complex problems and why this framing is relevant and helpful
- Summarise some of the key skills needed
- Compare the conventional 'masterplanning' approach with the agile, iterative 'Strategic Doing' approach
- Look at key project management concepts such as time, cost, quality and scope
- Warn of some common mistakes to avoid
This course will help program and project delivery across a variety of disciplines, including project management, urban design, economic development, events, activation, community development, urban planning, tourism, arts, engineering, infrastructure, sustainability and more.
If you are not familiar with placemaking, you might want to do a quick crash course - Creating Great Places in 12 Minutes before starting this course. It will help you to better understand this course.
